تَفسيرُ المُروءَةِ / Interpretation of Gallantry
1ـ رسولُ اللّهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ) ـ لِرجُلٍ مِن ثَقيفٍ ـ: يا أخا ثَقيفٍ، ما المُروءةُ فيكُم ؟ قالَ: يارسولَ اللّهِ، الإنصافُ والإصلاحُ . قالَ: وكذلكَ هِي فينا.
1– The Prophet (SAWA) said to a man from Thaqif, ‘O brother from Thaqif, what is gallantry in your opinion?’ He said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, it is fairness and peacemaking.’ So he (SAWA) said, ‘That is how it is in us.’

2ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ لَمّا سُئلَ عَنِ المُروءَةِ ـ: لاتَفعَلُ شيئا في السِّرِّ تَستَحيي مِنهُ في العَلانِيَةِ.
2– Imam Ali (AS), when asked about gallantry, said, ‘
[It is to] Not do something secretly which you would be ashamed to do in public.’

3ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): لاتَتِمُّ مُروءَةُ الرّجُلِ حتّى يَتَفَقّهَ (في دِينهِ)، ويَقتَصِدَ في مَعيشَتِهِ، ويَصبِرَ علَى النّائبةِ إذا نَزَلَت بهِ، ويَستَعذِبَ مَرارَةَ إخوانِهِ.
3– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The gallantry of a man will not be complete until he is educated
[in religion], economizes in his living, is patient in tragedy when it befalls him, and finds the bitterness of his brethren sweet.’

4ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): بالرِّفقِ تَتِمُّ المُروءَةُ.
4– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘With gentleness is gallantry completed.’
[Ghurar al-Hikam, no. 4201]
5ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): بالصِّدقِ تَكمُلُ المُروءَةُ .
5– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘With truthfulness is gallantry perfected.’

6ـ الإمامُ الحسنُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ لَمّا سُئلَ عَنِ المُروءَةِ ـ: حِفظُ الدِّينِ، وإعزازُ النّفسِ، ولِينُ الكَنَفِ، وتَعَهُّدُ الصَّنيعَةِ، وأداءُ الحُقوقِ، والتَّحَبُّبُ إلَى النّاسِ .
6– Imam Hasan (AS), when asked about gallantry, said, ‘
[It is] Protecting the religion, dignifying the self, lowering one’s wing
[in humility], dedication in one’s actions, fulfilling rights, and showing love to people.’

7ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ لَمّا سُئلَ عَنِ المُروءَةِ ـ: لا يَراكَ اللّهُ حَيثُ نَهاكَ، ولا يَفقِدُكَ مِن حَيثُ أمَرَكَ .
7– Imam al-Sadiq (AS), when asked about gallantry said, ‘That Allah should not see you where He has prohibited you, and that He does not miss you where He has ordered you.’
