2– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘A believer is fun and playful, and a hypocrite is grim and angry.’

3– It is narrated in Tanbih al-Khawatir: ‘An old woman came to the Prophet (SAWA) to whom he said, ‘Old people will not enter Heaven'. So she started to cry, and he then said, ‘At that time you will not be old, Allah Almighty has said, "We have created them with a special creation, and made them virgins."

4– Imam al-Baqir (AS) said, ‘Indeed Allah loves those who are playful among people without obscenity.’

5– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘Every single believer should have playfulness in him.’
[The narrator said] I asked, ‘What is playfulness?’ He replied, ‘Joking.’

6– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) asked Yunus al-Shaybani, ‘How much do you jest around with each other?’ I said, ‘Little.’ He said, ‘This is not how it should be, for playing is part of good character, and through that you bring happiness to your brother, and the Messenger of Allah (SAWA) would jest with people wanting to make them happy.’

7– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘O Ali, do not joke lest your splendour fade, and do not lie lest your light fade.’

8– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Excessive joking takes away one’s honour.’

9– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Every time a person cracks a joke, a part of his intellect is thrown out.’

10– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Joking brings about grudges.’

11– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘He who jokes will not be taken seriously.’

12– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Many a joke can turn out to be serious.’

13– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘A joke is minor swearing.’

14– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘Do not joke lest your light fade.’

15– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘When you love someone do not joke and argue with him.’
