OLD AGE
الهَـَرمُ / Senility
1ـ رسولُ اللهِِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): مَثُلَ ابنُ آدَمَ وإلى جَنبِهِ تِسعٌ وتِسعونَ مَنِيَّةً، إن أخطَأتهُ المَنايا وَقَعَ في الهَرَمِ.
1– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Man is such that if ninety nine deaths were to be decreed for him, and if the deaths were to miss him, he would fall into senility.’

2ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): ثَمَرَةُ طُولِ الحَياةِ السَّقَمُ والهَرَمُ.
2– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The outcome of a long life is sickness and senility.’

3ـ رسولُ اللهِِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): يَهرَمُ ابنُ آدَمَ وتَشِبُّ مِنهُ اثنَتانِ: الحِرصُ والأمَلُ.
3– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘When man becomes senile, two things erupt in him: greed and expectation.’

4ـ رسولُ اللهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): يَهرَمُ ابنُ آدَمَ ويَشِبُّ مِنهُ اثنانِ: الحِرصُ علَى المالِ، والحِرصُ علَى العُمرِ.
4– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘When man becomes senile, two things erupt in him: greed for wealth and greed for age

5ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): الهَمُّ نِصفُ الهَرَمِ .
5– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Worry is half of senility.’

6ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): أربَعَةٌ تُهرِمُ قَبلَ أوانِ الهَرَمِ: أكلُ القَديدِ، والقُعودُ علَى النَّداوَةِ، والصُّعودُ في الدَّرَجِ، ومُجامَعَةُ العَجوزِ.
6– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘There are four things that bring about senility before the time of old age: the eating of dry meat, sitting on humid places, climbing stairs, and copulating old people.’
