SAGACITY




الكَيِّسُ / The Sagacious

1ـ رسولُ اللهِ‏ِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): الكَيِّسُ مَن دانَ نفسَهُ وعَمِلَ لِما بَعدَ المَوتِ، والعاجِزُ مَن أتبَعَ نفسَهُ وهواها وتَمنَّى علَى اللّه‏ِ عَزَّوجلَّ الأمانِيَّ.
1– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘The sagacious person is someone who subjugates himself and acts for that which comes after death.’

2ـ رسولُ اللهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ) ـ لمّا سُئلَ: منَ أكيَسُ المؤمنينَ ـ: أكثُرهُم ذِكراً لِلمَوتِ وأشَدُّهُم لَهُ استِعداداً.
2– The Prophet (SAWA), when asked, ‘Who is the most sagacious of believers?’ replied, ‘Those who remember death the most, and are the most prepared for it.’

3ـ رسولُ اللهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): أكيَسُ الكَيْسِ التُّقى، وأحمَقُ الحُمقِ الفُجورُ.
3– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘The highest level of sagacity is piety and the lowest level of stupidity is immorality.’

4ـ رسولُ اللهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): أكيَسُ الكَيِّسِينَ مَن حاسَبَ نفسَهُ وعَمِلَ لِما بَعدَ المَوتِ، وأحمَقُ الحَمقى مَن أتبَعَ نفسَهُ هَواها وتَمَنَّى علَى اللّه‏ِ الأمانِيَّ.
4– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘The most sagacious of the sagacious is he who takes account of himself and works for the Hereafter, and the stupidest of the stupid is he who allows himself to follow his desires and entertains high expectations from Allah.’

5ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): الكَيِّسُ مَن عَرَفَ نفسَهُ وأخلَصَ أعمالَهُ .
5– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The sagacious one is he who knows himself and purifies his actions.’
[Ghurar al-Hikam, no. 1139]

6ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): الكَيِّسُ مَن كانَ يَومُهُ خَيراً مِن أمسِهِ، وعَقَلَ الذَّمَّ عن نفسِهِ .
6– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The sagacious one is he whose today is better than his yesterday, and locks away the blameworthy
[traits] from himself.’

7ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ لمّا سُئلَ عن أكيَسِ النّاسِ ـ: مَن أبصَرَ رُشدَهُ مِن غَيِّهِ فَمالَ إلى رُشدِهِ .
7– Imam Ali (AS), when asked about the most sagacious of people, said, ‘
[It is] he who has insight into what is
[conducive to] his growth from his erring, and inclines towards his growth.’

8ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): أكيَسُكُم أورَعُكُم .
8– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The most sagacious from among you is the most pious of you.’
